These days Unity isn't any different: it's a shitty engine that still lets people make games very quickly. But if you're making a game and actually want it profitable, you most likely can't afford very good coders, in a huge number, and keep them employed for years. HOW WEAK IS THE GAMEBRYO ENGINE CODESame as code optimization: it requires very good programmers and lots of time. The problem with Bethesda is that the technical expertise was very low, as most of the attention was on content production, not tech. These days ALL games are based on existing code of some sort, so all games are based in one way or another on "middleware". It lets you go right to what matters, without spending years to code everything from zero. HOW WEAK IS THE GAMEBRYO ENGINE MODSYou must have one or more mods that cause your game to bloat. So why game companies use middleware very often? Because it's the fastest, least expensive way to make a game. As was said before, Gamebryo is the graphics engine, which ultimately shouldn't contribute to save game bloating (the game doesn't save the graphics, it only saves gameplay data). Not only you had Gamebryo, but also SpeedTree for vegetation, and the face middleware that produced that HORROR that was the faces. If you’re suffering health issues like brain fog, weakness, lethargy, and such without having a single idea of what causes them, then it could be a result of your body being damaged from factors such as pesticide-laden produce, pollution, and so on. Gamebryo in particular was bad because of very bad memory management, and because Oblivion was layered with terrible middleware on top of each other. Some people will say that the scope of the games do not lend themselves to such an involved engine. The guns felt so good in wolfenstein, why can't that feeling be replicated with magic/swords? I want something with the engine of wolfenstein, but for first person magic/melee. It just doesn't feel visceral or affective. I don't believe anyone that tells me the combat is good in these games. It is very clear this engine is limiting. The minute I took control of my character, I knew, it was just an uprezzed oblivion. ![]() I told myself that it was going to be something new and fresh, or that the changes they made changes the jank. I was very excited for Skyrim, only to find out that it was on the gambryo engine. What we need to talk about: how much it sucks/how limiting it is, and how badly Bethesda need to use a new engine for the next installment of Elder Scrolls/Fallout. My experience with it started with Morrowwind and continued to Oblivion and Skyrim. Maybe (actually it’s sure) some effects such as bump mapping could enhance the graphics experience. If you don't know what it is, it is the game engine Bethesda has used for (what seems like) all of the modern 3d polygonal elder scrolls games. Vizerra offers a nice point of view of some famous places with two modes: walk and fly (I like this one). Sometimes you can see some graphic bugs like this one: The graphics rendering is… basic Direct3D rendering: simple texturing (I think) with baked lighting (nice modeling work anyway): HOW WEAK IS THE GAMEBRYO ENGINE SOFTWAREThat would be cool to have the possibility to choose the way to download such big files: from the software of via the browser (via a direct link). I downloaded the demo Macchu Picchu (200Mb!) and the only way to download a place is from inside the software. HOW WEAK IS THE GAMEBRYO ENGINE INSTALLGamebryo includes NVIDIA PhysX that why you need to have the version of the runtimes to successfully install Vizerra (and that point sucks because I have ForceWare 185.85 that come with PhysX ). Gamebryo in particular has terrible physics, even worse light, and some of the worst resource management I have ever seen in a game engine. 2) Let us not forget some of the technical issues with Gamebryo, as well as Skyrim’s Creation Engine. Both FO3 and FONV used the Gamebryo Engine. Vizerra is based on Gamebryo engine and uses a Direct3D 9 rendering path. 1) Fallout 3 does not use the Creation Engine. You can freely move around the virtual model and thoroughly explore it, learning useful information in the process. ![]() Which enables you to see and interact with 3D models of some of the most beautiful architectural wonders of the world, such as Angkor Wat temple or Macchu Picchu (the place I tested). Vizerra is a free (for end users) 3D software (based on the Gamebryo engine)
